spaces and streetscape improvements to coordinating engaged community networks to deliver
new activities, programs and investment. These new activities, programs and networks create
value, not only in social and cultural terms but also from an economic perspective.
A Place based approach is a process which is about building community capacity within a place.
It’s a community-based process, not just a strategy or solution that has been imposed and
implemented by government leaders or planners. The success of a place does not depend solely
on its physical appearance, business mix, traffic layout, accessibility, marketing program or the
support of its local residential community. Rather, the success of a place depends on all these
aspects being pursued in a logical and integrated fashion. This is most successful when a
coordinated management process and structure is in place to facilitate these outcomes.
