6.1.2 Projected Number of Trailers
In addition to private vehicles as identified in the Census, the following trailer types would also utilise
car washing facilities within the trade areas:
    +    Caravan trailers;
    +    Boat trailers;
    +    Camper trailers;
    +    Horse float pig trailers; and
    +    Box trailers.

As of April 2021, there were an estimated 845,915 privately registered trailers in Queensland, which
translates to 0.402 private registrations per private dwelling (based on Queensland Government
Statistician’s Office dwelling projections for 2021).
Table 6-2 denotes private trailer registration data for select sub-categories within Queensland, as
well as the estimated number of dwellings within Queensland and the estimated number of private
trailer registrations per dwelling in Queensland in 2021.

Our assessment has assumed that the number of privately registered trailers per dwelling in the trade
areas is consistent with the state average. Based on this assumption, the number of privately
registered trailers within the trade areas is projected to increase from 1,566 trailers in 2021 to 1,814
trailers in 2031, as summarised in Table 6-3.

It has a drawbar connecting it to the towing vehicle. Most caravans, boat trailers and box trailers fall into the pig trailer grouping.

A horse trailer is designed specifically to safely carry livestock, a horse float includes a bay for each animal to keep multiple
animals separate and secure.
