6.1.3 Projected Size of Commercial Vehicle Fleet
The proposed car wash facility would also be utilised by commercial vehicles. To estimate the size of
the relevant commercial vehicle fleet, consideration was given to the proportion of light vehicles
registered as a rental vehicle or commercial vehicle in Queensland. In April 2021, rental vehicles or
commercial vehicles represented 13.6% of the total light vehicle fleet in Queensland, as summarised
in Table 6-4.

Light Vehicle No. of Registrations
Rental (Self Driver Rental) 36,677
Commercial 512,843
All Light Vehicle Registrations 4,045,948
Share of Rental & Commercial Light Vehicles 13.6%

This assessment assumes that the commercial vehicle fleet represents 13.6% of the light vehicle fleet
within the trade areas, consistent with the state average. Based on this assumption, the number of
commercial light vehicles within the trade areas is projected to increase from 1,269 vehicles in 2021
to 1,470 vehicles in 2031, as summarised in Table 6-5.

6.1.4 Non Trade Area Demand
In addition to demand generated from within the trade areas, the proposed car wash facility is also
anticipated to be utilised by non-trade area vehicles, e.g. vehicles may travel to the Subject Site
from nearby caravan parks, campsites or holiday/tourist parks on the way home from their holiday.
Table 6-6 outlines the caravan parks, campsites and holiday/tourist parks that are either within the
trade areas or proximate to the trade areas. There are two caravan parks, one holiday park and
one campsite within the PTA. Similarly, there is one caravan park within the STA. There were five other
