The results presented in Table 4-6 indicate that the access will theoretically operate well within
the practical capacity for a priority controlled intersection (DoS < 0.8). The delays and queues are
well within acceptable limits, with the worst performing leg recording an average delay of 7.4s and
a queue of 8.2m. Therefore, it can be concluded that the development will not adversely impact
the performance of the Hofmann Drive / Northern Access intersection in 2032.
4.5.3 SOUTHERN SITE ACCESS
The SIDRA Intersection software has been used to assess the performance of the Rene Street /
Southern Access intersection as a single site. The layout of the Rene Street / Southern Access
intersection is shown in Figure 4-5.
Figure 4-5 Southern Site Access / Rene Street Intersection
The following SIDRA parameters have been applied to the model:
A Saturation Flow of 1,950 through car units per hour;
A Peak Flow Period of 30 minutes, with a conservative Peak Flow Factor of 95%; and
Gap acceptance parameters based on relevant Austroads Guidelines.
