                          Tourism is a key component of the local economy, with coastal towns attracting
                          significant visitation throughout the year. The region is also an appealing location for
                          retirement, leading to a high proportion of residents in older age cohorts.

                          Noosa Shire had a population of 57,330 persons in June 2022, with growth averaging 550
                          persons per year over the last ten years, incorporating the COVID-affected period.

                          In addition to tourism, strong economic growth is occurring in sectors such as healthcare
                          and social assistance. Diversification is also evident, with an emerging range of health-
                          related industries, manufacturing and other service industries, with NBC having an
                          important future role in supporting the diversification of Noosa’s economy.
