5.2 Catchment   Catchment definition
analysis
                The catchment area adopted for the purposes of this analysis has been determined from
                a range of factors including:
                •    The trading patterns of the existing Noosa Civic centre, drawing on analysis of mobile
                     geolocation data that identifies where visitors to the centre come from.
                •    The role of the integrated centre following completion of the Stage 2 Retail
                     development and the current application within the VMU precinct.
                •    The road network in the region and customer preparedness to travel.
                •    Natural and physical boundaries that may influence access to the centre.
                •    The size, composition and location of other retail facilities and activity centres that
                     act as alternative shopping destinations for residents and visitors to the region.

                Based on this approach, the adopted catchment is illustrated in Figure 12 and consists of
                a Primary sector and four Secondary sectors as follows:
                •    The Primary sector encompasses Noosaville and Tewantin surrounding Lake
                     Doonella and the Noosa River and extends south to include Doonan.
                •    The Secondary East sector incorporates the coastal suburbs of Noosa Heads,
                     Sunshine Beach, Sunrise Beach, and Castaways Beach.
                •    The Secondary South East sector is a narrow catchment sector along the coastline
                     extending from Marcus Beach through Peregian Beach and Peregian Springs to
                     Coolum in the south.
                •    The Secondary South West sector extends southwest along Eumundi-Noosa Road
                     and Eumundi Kenilworth Road to include Eumundi and Ridgewood.
                •    The Secondary North West sector extends north and northwest to incorporate the
                     small regional towns of Cooroy, Pomona and Cooran.
