Report on Review of Bushfire Situation at Noosa Q.I.C.
Civic

No actions are recommended or needed.

Area 4
This area of 13ha is attached to Covenant Areas J & L which total 1.65ha. These three
areas are not separable from a bushfire perspective and need to be considered as a
management unit.

Covenant Area J is a constructed drainage easement and management other than the
edge adjacent to the development is difficult.

The fuel loads in Area 4 are 15 years old (last unplanned fire was in 2003) and up to 15
tonnes/ha. (see Photograph Nos. 9 & 10)

It is not proposed for any development in this area in the foreseeable future and as such
some ongoing management is required to maintain a safe environment for the nearby
Noosa Civic development.

These necessary actions include upgrading access, establishing small management units
suitable for fuel reduction techniques. The necessary actions are detailed in Section 4.1.1
and 4.1.2 of this report.

Confirming a vehicular access from Hofmann Drive around the interface between the
existing development and the adjoining Area 4 vegetation is very important for any
defence capabilities. (see 4.1.4)

The long term establishment of a southern separation access should also be investigated.
(i.e. 4.1.3)

Area 5
This small narrow area of 1.3ha is largely a drainage line. (see Photograph No. 11)
