Councillors um so yeah obviously just uh today uh I'm pleased to present the Noosa Aquatic Facilities Strategic Plan 2026 to 2036 and the accompanying centre upgrade plan and prioritised implementation plan these documents provide Council with a long-term strategic framework to guide future planning renewal and enhancement of aquatic facilities across the Shire the strategic plan has been informed by a comprehensive needs assessment a demand analysis and extensive consultation with community user groups industry stakeholders and government partners the findings confirm that the aquatic centre is a highly valued and well-performing regional facility while also identifying opportunities to address ageing infrastructure accessibility asset. Renewal and evolving community expectations the strategic plan was developed to provide long-term network-wide view of aquatic service provision across Noosa ensuring future investment decisions are evidence-based strategically aligned and responsive to community needs the upgrade plan then supports this strategic direction into a prioritised pipeline proactively addressing emerging infrastructure accessibility and customer experience needs while it's establishing a long-term Roadmap for future investment the upgrade plan outlines a staged and prioritised approach to future improvements focused on accessibility renewal of critical infrastructure and customer amenity sustainability capacity to meet future community needs importantly these documents establish a strategic direction and will assist us in developing the pipeline I would also like to emphasise the endorsement of this strategy and upgrade plan does not constitute the approval of capital works projects or allocation of funding any future projects will be individually scoped assessed and considered through councils normal annual budget and capital works processes will remain subject to accrues and funding availability accordingly I'm seeking Council endorsement of this report and the Noosa Aquatic Centre facilities facility strategic plan and supporting upgrade plan and priority implementation plan to guide future planning investment in aquatics facilities across the Shire. Thank you and happy to take any questions.
The Noosa Aquatic Centre is a very successful and much loved facility and this upgrade plan focuses on what matters most to our residents: improved accessibility, modern amenities, greater safety, more shade, enhanced wellness facilities and renewed we'll make the centre easier to use for older residents families people with disability and everyone who enjoys staying active importantly the plan responds to the growing community demand by expanding program capacity improving gym and wellness spaces enhancing spectator facilities creating a more welcoming and enjoyable experience for all users sustainability initiatives such as expanded solar infrastructure and environmentally sensitive landscaping will also help reduce costs and strengthen environmental resilience this is more than just an infrastructure project it is an investment in community well-being lifestyles and social connection positions Noosa to pursue future funding opportunities such as grants attract regional events and leave a lasting legacy for future generations it's a carefully planned and staged approach that allows us to ensure the Noosa Aquatic Centre remains a successful and well-loved community hub that continues to enrich the lives of our residents and visitors for many years to come. I commend the staff and their work.
